Aztecs

1. They sacrificed to the gods children, wanderers, animals... No one was spared.

2. They spoke in Nahuatl dialect.

3. Their capital was Tenochtitlan.

4. The Aztec empire was located in the valley of Mexico.

5. At it's peak, the Aztec empire held great achievements in the fields of art, music, and science.

6. Aztec culture and tradition is known mostly through Archeological digs, and eyewitness Spanish accounts.

7. Tlachtli was a variant of the Mesoamerican ball game; the Aztecs played it often.

8. No matter their gender or class, all began school at age fifteen.

9. A pyramid was built in the center of the capital. It rose sixty meters above the city.

10. The Aztec heritage lives on today. The people of Mexico are a mixture of Spanish and Central American Indians.
